We Sold Our House and Set Off Into the Unknown 🌏

A Journey into Freedom, Family and Future.

It was the middle of 2024, we had moved into our new home in early January and welcomed our baby daughter at the end of the same month. We had everything we wanted, everything we had planned and worked for had come into being. The “Kiwi dream” had been achieved, twice, and yet something was not right.

The highs of earlier in the year were beginning to fade and the realisation that the big house, the swimming pool and the possessions that we had acquired were not what we were needed.

We were desiring freedom, a break from the ‘norm’ and adventure.

Can we sell our house six months after purchasing it? Are we crazy to even consider it? What will people think?!..............How do we even make this happen?

Once the thought of freedom had put down its roots we couldn’t deny it any longer and needed to come up with an “exit plan”.

We had Workawayers come in to help get the house ready for sale. Painting, landscaping, water blasting, baby sitting and cooking meals. This allowed us time to focus and carry on working through the process. We took on a Japanese exchange student, Kai, to help cover the rising costs of mortgage payments and rates and we committed to making this happen.

We sold our house, packed possessions we didn’t sell into a shipping container and headed for warmer climates and a different way of life.

We’re on the road now. The beach is our backyard. The library is our office. The world is our home. Our children are students of the world, life is their teacher. We work on our future every day, while constantly working on living in the present moment.

This life we have stepped into is not easy but each day we get to decide what to do with our time, where to spend that time and how to create a bright, healthy future for our children.
